As a mom, I want two things for my daughter – to be happy and healthy.
Being a tween girl has always been hard but being a tween girl in a time where everyone is connected and gossip can be spread in an instant from text to email to dozens of social media sites is a whole different world. In addition to the pressures of school and sports, they are navigating the challenges of body image, frenemies and technology. The end result is taking a toll on their self-esteem.
According to a study by the NYU Child Study Center “Girls self-esteem peaks when they are about 9 years old, then takes a nosedive”.
Determined to make a difference, my daughter Juliette and I decided to create a company to empower moms and their tween daughters to live happier and healthier lives using yoga and journaling to start conversations that strengthen the mother/daughter bond and improve self-esteem.
To make this dream a reality, we both became certified to teach yoga (Juliette was the first tween to be certified to teach other tweens), I became certified as a Life Coach and we created a series of mother/daughter classes, workshops and events that combine yoga, open conversations and fun art projects. We also developed a special neuro-linguistic journaling process to help girls DOWNLOAD their feelings, DIG DEEP for reasons to be grateful and DREAM about the life they want to live. To help bring these concepts into everyday life, we designed a line of intention jewelry and clothing to make sure the girls remember the mantra – “I Believe in Me. I Believe in We. I Believe in She”.
Please join us in the movement to shift the self-esteem cycle in our communities.
